Is there any difference between Lucifer and Satan? Christendom has taught they are one and the same. It is
generally taught that Lucifer is an archangel who fell from grace and was then thrown out of heaven by God because of pride.
His sin was thinking he was equal to God and because of this he rebelled against God. This angel of rebellion is known as
Satan, Lucifer, and the Devil who constantly tempts us into believing we are equal to God. Where did this teaching about Lucifer
spring from and what does the word of God has to say concerning the Lucifer question?
There is only one verse in the bible that uses the word Lucifer and it is found in Isaiah 14:12 and only in
the King James and its related versions. It reads thus,How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, the son of the morning?
Lucifer means Light bearer, Daystar, Shining Star and Shining One. Lucifer is not even a Hebrew word. Other translations read
thus, How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, Son of Dawn (NRSV)! O shining star of the dawn (Moffat). O morning star,
son of the dawn (Hebrew bible). Note how each translation other than the King James Version never uses the word Lucifer.
If there is no sound biblical basis for associating Lucifer with Satan where then did this teaching come from?
The King James Version is based on the Vulgate, the Latin translation of Jerome. Jerome translated the Hebrew word helel (bright
or brilliant one) as Lucifer, which was a reasonable Latin equivalent. Yet it is Lucifer, the Shining One or Daystar that
came to be understood by Christendom as the name for Satan, the Devil, and the evil Lord of the Dark. Christendom made the
interpretation based on assumption that Isaiah 14:12 is connected to Luke 10:18 when Jesus said, I beheld Satan fall from
heaven like lightening. This led to the erroneous conclusion that Lucifer is another name for Satan.
2 Peter 1:19 he calls Jesus the Day star and how he is to arise in our hearts. Looking at this scripture one
must ask the question, why would Peter under the unction of the Holy Spirit compare Jesus as the Daystar with Lucifer, if
Lucifer is Satan? This doctrine is formed by the carnal mind of man which cannot understand the things of the spirit because
to him it is foolishness. The one significant thing about all these other translations is that they all refer to light. John
said, God is light and in him is no darkness at all. James calls him the father of lights. Jesus said of us, we are the light
of the world or bearers of the light.
To understand Isaiah 14:12-16 say we must go back to the beginning. Genesis 2:8 And the Lord God planted a
garden eastward in Eden; and there he put MAN whom he had formed. Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in the Eden the garden of God.is
this the MAN that made the earth to tremble, that shake kingdoms, yet thou art a MAN, and not God. It is of great importance
to note here that the man is cast down, even into the pit (Isaiah 14:15) while Satan is thrown into the lake of fire with
death and hell (Revelation 20:10, 14). This is of great importance to show that Satan is never thrown into the grave it is
only man who dies and is placed in the grave. It is also important to note here that it was MAN who was placed in the Garden
of Eden and not Satan.
Who then is Lucifer if not Satan or an arc angel? Lucifer was never an arc angel, he was a man and that man
is Adam. He was brought down to hell, (Sheol, place of the dead) the side of the pit. When Adam was place in the Garden of
Eden he was perfect. When he fell he fell from a lofty realm. He was cast down from that realm. Adam because of the fall caused
kingdoms to shake and made the world an empty wilderness. Creation was made subject to vanity because of the fall which brought
us into a world of mortality where we got our mistake in identity. It was Adam who was full of light and manifested the glory
of God, and who also was covered over with skin of mortality which hides the glory of God. Thank God we are coming into the
light and our true being which is light is now manifested.
Revelation 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root
and offspring of David, and the BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR. It is in our lives that God is calling the light to shine out of
darkness, to show that light is come into the world. We are the revelation of the Light that God call Day which lighteth everyman
that comes into the world.
Let us walk in the light as he is in the light bearing his brightness and image.
Namaste,
