What is prayer? How to pray? How to pray Gods will for your life?
These are the questions so many books are written about. Prayer is simply a state of being and awareness, but one will be
forgiven in thinking it involved mans formula. So much work is involved in prayer and praying when one should be resting in
Christ. Prayer as the father taught me is Please Retire, As You Enter Rest! The disciples asked Jesus, Lord teach us to pray.
Everywhere you look people are crying, begging, pleading and beseeching trying to convince the father to stand up and listen
to their plea for help. Prayer according to Christendom is working up enough emotions and drama to move God to take note of
their problems and do something about it. Do we think by beseeching, begging and pleading we hope to change the mind of God?
This attitude is based on the scripture, ask and you shall receive, for everyone that asked receives. One thing I find common
among the people of God is the question why is my prayer unanswered? Is it because we asked amiss that we may consume it on
our lusts?
The problem with this kind of attitude is the fact that every waking
moment is spent praying for our life, what we shall eat and what we shall wear? It
was Jesus who said, A mans life consisteth not in the things which he possesses. Jesus make an important statement when he
said, take no thought. Think about that for a moment. This is where our time is spent thinking on finances, deadlines, health,
conflicts in the world, our children, our jobs etc. Most of our time praying is spent in desperation than in communion. Prayer
is simply union in communion. Jesus understood this union. Jesus taught his disciples
to pray and this is what he said, Our father which art in heaven (a state of awareness)..thy will be done on earth as it is
in heaven. We must come to know heaven is a present state of consciousness and reality. It is a state wherein the mind of
Christ is functioning in us; it is from this place within us that all our answers to lifes problem are found. The reason so
many dont know this is they dont go in there often enough. In this place nothing from without can enter and disrupt its harmony
and peace.
Someone once said we have to come to a place where we become the
prayer. This statement may sound like blasphemy to the carnal ear, it was Paul who said, and we must become all things to
all men. How dwelled the love of God in us if we see a brother or sister in need and all we can say is brother I am praying
for you. That my friend is a self righteous and self centered prayer and does not portray the love of the father. A wise king
once said, Withhold not good from anyone when it is in the power of your hand to do it.
Why not become the prayer and meet the need? Understand saints the Christ in us is a heart of love and a heart of love
always have something to give. Praying is giving more than it is receiving. Christendom has taught us that prayer is the art
of receiving from God. Whatever we give in love will always be replenished, for its supply is inexhaustible. Paul said, Whatever
we make happen for someone else we make happen for us. The key to praying is, for God so love the world that he GAVE.
Paul said, Pray without ceasing. I thought long and hard about this
statement and came to the conclusion that there is no way a person can pray with the natural mind 24/7 without ceasing. Our
minds are bombarded and taxed every minute of the day with the cares of this life, how then can we pray without ceasing? We
can say like Paul, I thank my God the answer is in Christ. The Christ consciousness which is our reality never sleeps and
is always praying, rejoicing, blessing, creating and loving. The mind of Christ is always at rest and nothing from without
can disrupt his peace. When you understand and function from this reality, you dont have to try to make contact with the father,
because you know and understand the father and I are one!
From this point on you begin to see that out of him, and through
him and into him are all things, to whom be glory for ever. You no longer have to pray for the will of the father; you understand
that you are his will being done on earth as it is in heaven. We will see that every problem, situation and circumstance we
face the answer is within us. When we understand this reality our focus shifts from our It was Jesus who said, When you pray
enter your closet (secret place within you) and the father who sees you in secret will reward you openly. Prayer is a place
in Christ where words are no longer needed; Paul and Jesus understood this when they said, I AM THAT I AM, the WAY, the TRUTH
and the LIFE.
May the Christ consciousness draw us to the place where we become
the prayer and his will being done on earth.
