For many the rest of God is a day of the week to be observed be it Saturday or Sunday. There are
at least three kinds of rest spoken off in the word of God. Jesus said, "Come unto me all ye that are heavy laden and I will
give you rest, take my yoke upon you and learn of me and ye shall find rest for your soul and Paul said, "There remain therefore
a rest to be entered by the people of God. So we see there is a rest that is given, a rest that is found and a rest that is
entered into.
So many are laboring today to find the rest of God as if their salvation depended upon it. The
Sabbath was kept strictly under the law, and was a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ (Colossians 2:16-17).
A shadow is a representation or foretaste of the real thing to come. The shadow was kept until the reality of the true thing
came. The first mention of the rest of God is seen in Genesis 2:3. And God blessed (set apart) the seventh day (end of the
sixth.the labor and toil of man) and sanctified it, because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created.
The scripture declared that..1. God finished the heavens and earth and all the host of them. 2. God ended his work that he
had made. 3. God rested from all the work he hath created.
The rest of God is simply a state of being where one has cease from their works and is fully in
union with the father and his work towards them. Isaiah 11:10 say, his rest is glorious. Psalm 132:13-14 say, God has chosen
Zion and this is my place of rest and here I will dwell. It is important to note here that he has ceased from his work and
has chosen his place of rest which is in us as his dwelling place. The rest of God is not to be compared to works. Jesus understood
the rest of God had nothing to do with literal works but simply the life of God flowing out from him. Jesus made a profound
statement when he said, My father worketh hitherto (in creation) and now I work (the mind of Christ). Jesus was simply stating
the reality of things, that the mind of Christ is at work in us.
We must come to the reality that our whole earth is at rest (Isaiah 14:7). The rest of God is
not to be compared to a physical rest. When Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden he had rest and communion with the father,
for all the work was finished. After the fall man lost sight of the true rest of God and has labored to find the rest that
Adam once enjoyed. We can only know this rest when we have come to the reality that God finished the heavens and the earth,
and ended all his work and is at rest since the seventh day in complete union in man since then. We also need to know that
God saw all that he had created and it was VERY GOOD, and today he still sees it in that same light.
Many are hearing and waking up to the voice of the father saying, Well done my good and faithful
child enter thou into the rest of God which was prepared for you from the foundation of the world. So many have entered, are
entering and will continue to enter the rest of God which was given to man since creation.
Let us enjoy the rest which was given to us in Christ Jesus as we learn new ways to show his love
in our daily living.
Namaste,
